Award on Weather Observations on Board “Signora del Vento” Sailing Ship

September 24th, 2016 :  on board the prestigious sailing ship “La Signora del Vento”, moored at quay Y of the Genova marina, the first Navimeteo Marine Observer Award was assigned.

Navimeteo is the provider of ship routing services 24/7 worldwide to about 500 vessels, comprising superyachts, cruise ships and offshore boats. During this important event, a recognition was conferred to the Italian Yacht Masters Association for their careful way in communicating their aboard weather observations to the Navimeteo forecasters.

This association chaired by Captain Gino Battaglia gathers about 60 captains in charge of the most prestigious yachts in the world. On behalf of Captain Biagio Battaglia, the IYM President and Captain, the prize was collected by Captain Manuel Battaglia and Captain Luca Triggiani, the Training Manager of the association.

Emanuele Santi, the Captain of “Signora del Vento” welcomed all the participants and told the story of the sailing ship.

Gianfranco Meggiorin, President and Founder of Navimeteo together with his team described various topics of ship routing and routing optimisation with safety considered as the main aspect for sailing.

The mentioned “Signora del Vento”, launched in 1962, is a 3-mast sailing ship that has been used for training since the early ’90s.
